On the Fringe: The Art of Chris Dale
Chris Dale is as self-effacing as one would expect a person to be whose passion overrules ego. Short on answers, long on art — where he spends his time — his work represents the expression of ideas and feelings in a consistent and nearly predictable manner. What is unpredictable are the subjects, which range from a dancer caught in her own moment, to the appearance and acceptance of a gay couple kissing…

Alec Dawson / Photographer Interview
For my Nocturna series, all I would do is go for a walk with the model in dark neighborhood. I’d find a spot where the lighting was favorable/inspirational. I’d set my camera up on a tripod and test the exposure. The model would disrobe, place herself in the scene, and I would take a few photographs. We’d pack up and move to another spot. Typically, I would get at least 10 solid photographs from a single evening of walking around.

JP: What distinguishes you from other artists?

Art Therapy & Drawing From the Past
José María Sicilia, Spanish artist, and most recent visitor to the Lennox Hill Neighborhood House artist program, stood contemplatively in the room where he was set to address the residents, family members, and staff. Painter of seductive surfaces, swirling and breathless, Sicilia’s work is beautifully executed and lends itself to the performative: a trait influenced by Ab Ex and time spent with John Cage.

Corbett Reynolds / Art
Life was much different for gay men and women in 1970s’ Columbus, Ohio. The few gay bars in town were mostly dives, and had no signage or visible street presence. Police raids were common, as was harassment from the general populace. It was at this time that a charming little man named Corbett Reynolds came along and helped put the city of Columbus on the map…
